Kudo's to Gary...this article on conneaut, ohio and its city manager and council could not be more true...I too have an opinion about this town goverment...it is like a "3 ring circus with a bunch of clowns and their not any funny" No freedom of speech aloud...now trying to tell you that they will pick your trash haulers for you, etc..its a joke...We should put a bunch of names in a hat and start pulling ones out and I'm sure we would end up with a better goverment for this city then what we have now..Conneaut is a laughing stock of Ashtabula County and surrounding areas...Your better off when someone asks "where you from"...to say Cleveland, Erie ...North Pole or anywhere in between...and I think you know where I'm coming from...

I agree absolutely. So much of the music produced today is . . . (for lack of better words) "heartless" and "gutless." It simply has no meaning. I would argue one point though: there is still great music being produced. Gritty bands like OCMS, Mofro, JJ Grey, and Back Door Slam and singers such as Ray LaMontagne, Eric Lindell, and Amos Lee. They sing americana, music with roots, music that makes you think about reak life, justice, love, the things that matter. The great music still exists, you just have to recognize it and dig it out of all the crap. And we can always revisit the oldies, like I did this week when I by chance heard "Paper in Fire." I now sit here listening to a cd of my favorite John Mellencamp songs. And, by the way, John, "I need a lover" is an awesome song, absolutely beautiful is its raw simplicity. Thank you.

I didn't "have to" describe Conneaut, Ohio City Manager a "second rate clown" Ashtabula Star Beacon June 16, but it felt so good.

Wow...you hit the nail on the head. I'm mailing this out to all my friends and family. As a pert time resident on Conneaut, I can not immagine that this has happened.

I applaud the courage of Councilmen Campbell, Mooney and Lewis for standing up to that little banty rooster Jimmy Jones and the Manager.

The city solicitor is the best though. She slouches in her chair with a frown on her face (that is when she is not sleeping) and refuses to give an answer on anything. When she is finally backed into a corner, her pat answer is, "I'm not going to debate you on this!"

Thanks to public access (which the nazis you mentioned above are always trying to get rid of) the common citizen can get a pretty good idea of how their local government is not working and will be able to make a informed decision in November about who has to go.

I hope I didn't inadvertently send my other reply - ignore it if I did! While I find this story amusing, I am really writing to you about another article entitled "Touring Bob Dylan's New York". I have tried, to no avail, to find out how to get to Terre Grilli's private tour, but keep getting redirected to the commercial NYC tour. My daughter is a musician, and an AVID FAN of Bob Dylan. She lived on Jones Street while attending NYU, and her apartment is on the album cover of Freewheelin. She has attended several of his recent concerts, and will travel anywhere to see him. We are going back for a visit May 7-10, and I would love to present her with this tour as a gift. She has visited many of his old haunts, and knows probably as much as the tour director about his time spent there! I have also contacted Nigel Richardson, who also wrote an article about this, but have not heard back from him either. I'm not sure how to get to Ms. Grilli, but would certainly appreciate any advice you may have to offer. I have enjoyed perusing your site - very interesting and funny too!
